A frameless glass perimeter allows full visual supervision of the water from every angle. Posts and bars create blind spots. Glass does not. For households with children, this is the primary reason to choose glass over any alternative.
Visual supervision from the house is particularly important for Reigate Hill and Chart Lane properties where the pool sits in a large garden plot. A transparent perimeter means any part of the poolside is visible from the kitchen or sitting room without obstructions.
Aesthetics to Match a Premium Pool

Semi-frameless post system: stainless posts at wider spacing with glass infill, appropriate for high-use environments.
Child Safety, Hardware Specification, and Costs
Child Safety Requirements
Pool enclosure height: minimum 1,000mm from the outside face. Our standard panels are 1,100mm to 1,200mm for safety margin. The fence must not be climbable: frameless glass with no horizontal rails meets this requirement. Post-and-rail systems do not.
Every pool enclosure must have at least one self-closing, self-latching gate. The latch sits on the pool side of the gate at a height unreachable from outside by a child. Gaps between panels must be less than 100mm. We design every pool enclosure to meet these requirements and advise at survey on any layout adjustments needed.
Grade 316 Hardware Specification
All pool fence hardware is grade 316 marine stainless steel. Grade 316 contains molybdenum, which resists chloride attack from pool chemicals and ground moisture. Grade 304 is not used for pool installations: it shows corrosion within a few years in a chloride-rich environment.
Glass panels are fully toughened to BS EN 12150. Toughened glass is unaffected by pool chemicals. Sealants and fixings use UV-stable neutral cure silicone and A4 stainless bolts. We advise on inspection schedule at handover.
Planning and Building Regulations
Pool fencing in the garden of a private dwelling typically falls within permitted development and does not require planning permission. Properties in the Reigate Conservation Area may require consent for fencing above a certain height visible from the public realm.
Properties on the Reigate Hill escarpment, which sits in designated Green Belt, should confirm with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council Planning before any significant garden structure is erected. Building Regulations Part K applies where the pool surround is elevated more than 600mm above adjacent ground.
